SLLS ECR Careers Spotlight: Some Things To Do (Or Maybe Not Do) As An Early Career Academic
Presenter: Tony Robertson, Lecturer in the Geographies of Health, University of Stirling, UK and Executive Editor of the Society's journal, Longitudinal and Life Course Studies (LLCS).
Chairs: Jessica Ordemann and Thomas O'Toole (Co-ordinators of the SLLS Early Career Network)
Abstract: For this webinar I will reflect on some personal and shared experiences of being an early and mid-career academic, especially one who has changed disciplines between PhD and post-docs, and tries to work in an interdisciplinary space. We will discuss some things that have worked (and others that have not worked) in developing my career and, more importantly, my enjoyment around being an academic. As part of this I'll include some thoughts and advice linked to being an author on academic papers, as well as working with journals as a reviewer and editor.
