SLLS Cohort Network: Co-ordinator Required
We invite interested parties to help lead the Society's Cohort Network.
The Cohort Network is currently co-ordinated by Lisa Calderwood of the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London, and we are looking for a second person to work alongside Lisa in building the network and promoting its aims.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please send a brief (c.100 words) expression of interest to Cat Westlake ([email protected]) by 30 April 2025. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the role, please contact Lisa Calderwood ([email protected]). The position is on a voluntary basis. Expressions of interest from early and mid-career researchers are encouraged.
About the Cohort Network
SLLS is proud to host this forum for people working in and on longitudinal studies. It brings together researchers across the behavioural, developmental, and health and statistical sciences, and the professional data, survey and communications managers who are also an important part of the interdisciplinary teams who create and run these studies. The Network’s key objectives are the maintenance and continuation of existing studies and the facilitation of the development of new ones at local or national level. The Network allows for exchange of information on issues of mutual interest. Such information might concern opportunities for funding data collection, collaborative research, staff and student recruitment, forthcoming events, relevant publications, developments in methodology or data harmonization. A key activity for the network will be to organise speakers for the SLLS online seminars.
SLLS Policy Group: Co-ordinator(s) Required
We invite interested parties to help lead the Society's Policy Group.
The Policy Group has been led over the past few years by Susan Morton of the University of Technology Sydney (also past President of the SLLS!). After stepping down as co-ordinator last year, the Society is now looking for one or two co-ordinators to drive the group forward.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please send a brief (c.100 words) expression of interest to Cat Westlake ([email protected]) by 30 April 2025. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the role, please contact Susan Morton ([email protected]). This position is on a voluntary basis. Expressions of interest from early and mid-career researchers are encouraged.
About the Policy Group
Life course study and longitudinal research are potentially of central importance to the policy process. The burgeoning of major longitudinal studies throughout the world and the allocation of large-scale government funding to building longitudinal resources reflect this growing interest. In this respect, SLLS is well placed to identify the expertise and research resources needed to underpin the relevant evidence base in different policy domains. For this reason, the SLLS executive committee decided to create a database registering members’ expertise, relevant experience and policy interest areas. The register is on a voluntary basis and acts as a source of partners for collaboration on international longitudinal research projects directed at policy issues; help the executive committee to respond to policy debates; and broaden the scope of our international journal, LLCS, in policy research directions.
