(Permanent) Position at a Non-University Institution? A Personal Career Example

Presenter: Frauke Peter, Deputy Head of Department, Educational Careers and Graduate Employment, DZHW

Chairs: Jessica Ordemann and Thomas O'Toole (Co-ordinators of the SLLS Early Career Network)

Abstract: I will reflect on my personal experiences working at non-university institutions. Choices and options differ, yet new paths toward permanent positions exist. Tasks and comparative advantages may also differ from those of a university position, and I would like to reflect on this in my talk. Remember that my example is just one example of how we can walk through the academic system. I hope to provide insights into this particular pathway and include some thoughts about networks and extracurricular activities.
